The M.A.P. Project (Women in Portuguese America: Mapping the writings of women and women in the Portuguese Atlantic space using Digital Humanities methods) aims to systematize and make visible for future research a set of immensely important documentary sources for philological studies and for studies of the history of language, social history, the history of writing and reading, and the history of women in Brazil, through the construction of an electronic catalog of documents written by or about women in Portuguese America between 1500 and 1822. The relevance of the Project lies in the possibility of careful organization of this unpublished and scarce documentation which we consider essential for the understanding of the history of the formation of Brazil.
